Tests:     Tests will generally be objective; there may be some short answer and short essay type questions. Tests will count as 20% of your grade. Tests that are missed due to an absence can be made up.

Leadership and Effort:            Each cadet will serve in leadership billets within their class during the school year, and will be evaluated on their leadership abilities. Each cadets will be evaluated daily (through observation by the SMI/MI), on their leadership and effort within the JROTC classroom. Both of these aspects count as 22.5% (each) of your grade.

Community Service in JRTOC:       Each cadet will be expected to devote 5 hours, each semester, to JROTC community service projects/activities. Some examples (but not all) of these are our annual fund raiser project, “Adopt-a-Highway” cleanup, Christmas Tree of Giving, Color Guard details, or our annual “Puget Sound Blood Bank” blood drive, and color details at the Freshman Campus. Community service will be 5% of your grade.

Uniform inspections and Physical Training (PT) Participation:           Cadets are required to wear the designated Cadet Marine Corps uniform once a week, all day, during the designated school day (usually Wednesday), and to participate in the unit PT program scheduled twice a week (usually Monday & Friday). PT participation includes suiting up for physical training (wearing PT clothing). These two activities will count as 30% of your grade. Uniform Inspections cannot be made up. Failure to wear the uniform or suit up for PT will have a negative impact on your grade. Males are required to maintain a proper haircut that is no longer than 4 inches on the crown of the head and evenly graduated up, on the sides from zero inches to the 4 inches on top.

Grades/Grade Point Average (GPA):           Your GPA will have an impact on whether you go on local field trips or participate in orientation trips to local bases and stations throughout the greater Washington state area during the current school year. You must maintain a “C” average in all of your classes in order to participate. You will be required to have permission from one of your parents and all of your teachers to go on local field trips if it involves a school day.

Classroom Policy and Expectations:

Males must be clean-shaven and have an appropriate haircut at all times, i.e. 4 inches maximum on top and evenly graduated on the sides.

Your language, conduct and personal appearance will be a positive example to other cadets as well as to other students. This is not just for the JROTC class, it is expected of you during the entire school day.

Be aware of the schools’ current attendance policy, this is your responsibility! It will be reviewed with you once, during class. Be aware of the current published school rules, this also, is your responsibility!

Uniform inspections cannot be made up. Tests may be made up. The Marine Instructor will schedule this to transpire during class, near the end of each semester.

The first cadet to see an officer/cadet officer, or school official enter the classroom, will give the command, "ATTENTION ON DECK". All students will stand at attention until told to be seated by this person. When addressing these people, cadets will respond, "yes, sir", "yes, ma'am", "no, sir", "no, ma'am", as appropriate.

I (the cadet) have read, understand and accept the JROTC objectives, grading, and classroom policy.
